Some road walking. It is possible to park at Shotley Bridge Car park and join the walk 20 mins later as the return route joins Derwent Walk between the two parking spots. Both parking areas can be quite busy so car sharing is useful. Walk can be shortened by a pleasant route through Ebchester village to the car park.
