Hello Everyone
We're off walking around lovely Eccleshall a few miles west of Stafford this Sunday with leaders Jan & Karl at the helm. Their Moderate Grade route has no major hills, includes approximately 20 stiles, and some of the inevitable mud. 'Tis the season for a bit of mud after all😂😬😂.
Fancy a day out with all of us? If so then do come along! We'll make you welcome. All we ask is that you let us know a day or two beforehand if this is your very first walk with the group, thank you very much.
Registration: 09.30. Walk start: 09.45. Walk leaders: Karl & Jan.
Facilities near to the start point. None during the walk.
Post walk socials to be partaken in a local hostelry. Dunno exactly just yet. There's a few to choose from.
Directions. Our actual start point is located in the centre of Eccleshall outside the library on High Street, opposite the Royal Oak pub. Nearby on-street parking is free. ⚠️🅿️Please note there's also parking available at the Co-op supermarket for a day charge of £6.50. However, this is risky since the car park is locked at 16.00 which is potentially cutting it fine timewise. Avoid if at all possible.
From Stafford centre follow the signage for the M6 North (J14) and Eccleshall via the A5013, or arrive at M6 J14 anyway on the motorway itself. From J14 pick up the A5013 westbound, direction Eccleshall, and proceed for 5 miles via Great Bridgeford to reach Eccleshall. Drop down the hill to the first mini-island where bear right, direction A529 Newcastle, then 150 yards later at the next mini-island turn left into the B5026 High Street, direction Loggerheads.
The Library and start point is a further 150 yards on your right identified by the ornate blue clock which stands outside. Park on-street nearby.
Photos of the start point and final approaches are included above to aid you.
