A lovely forestry plantations & heathland walk on the Chase mostly on good wide tracks including the Heart of England Way. We'll visit a couple of war memorial sites too all being well. Some hills but nothing too steep.
This is an ideal introductory event for newcomers with just a little bit of walking experience under their belt. Why not come along and join us? Let us know beforehand if possible please, even if that's an hour or so before the start. Thank you.
Registration: 18.30. Walk start: 18.45 prompt.
Local directions:
From Cannock and Hednesford: Via the A460 Hednesford to Rugeley road. Pass though Hednesford with Aldi on your left, through the lights, and proceed for 0.55 mile to the next lights where straight through and then leave the A460 by turning left 100 yards later, over the railway bridge, then turn right at more lights into Brindley Heath Road.
Follow the course of this road for 1.8 miles up onto the Chase. At the crossroads go straight over and proceed for a further 600 yards to the T-junction at the White House where the car park is immediately in front of you.
From Rugeley: At the Miners statues island near the town centre take the A460, direction Stafford. 400 yards later turn left at the lights into Hagley Road and follow the course of the road without deviation for exactly 3 miles onto the Chase, past the Birches Valley turn, and onwards along Penkridge Bank Road until the White House on your left (which isn't white BTW). Turn right here and into the car park which is visible just as you approach.
