Overview

An opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Monnow valley, to climb to the top of Garway Hill and, in the afternoon, to ascend the other side of the valley to Grosmont village with its stunning castle and fascinating church.

The morning walk is five and a half miles long and ascends 1160ft fairly steadily, starting on the north side of Garway Hill before joining the Herefordshire trail to gain the summit. We will continue on the Herefordshire trail to return to Kentchurch church through open countryside, farmland and along the Monnow.

Lunch is at Kentchurch churchyard. Those wishing to continue walking will cross the Monnow, walk along its bank and then ascend to Grosmont, enjoying views back to Garway Hill.
