A market town on the edge of Bowland. The walks today may take you south to the hills, or north to the river Ribble. With the Ribble Way going right through thr centre of Gisburn you could find yourself heading for Sawley, or the other way towards Paythorne Moor. With a pub and cafe available for refreshments after the walks this is a good destination not far from home.
There will be 3 walks available with details circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Janet Loines - A curcular walk approximatley 11.5 miles with 973ft of undulating ascent from Gisburn following the Ribble Way with some interesting features along the way to Sawley and the remains of the abbey founded in 1147. Returning on the other side of the river.
B Walk Leader - Cathy Scowcroft
C Walk Leader - Derek Cook - 7 miles with 660ft of gradual ascent. A figure of eight walk with a number of opportunities to cut it short if need be, We head for Ribblesdale Park to join the Pennine Bridleway and head south along fields and lanes towards Coverdale. Then turn west and nrth to join the Ribble Valley Way back to Gisburn.
