Much of this walk is on level ground but has a few gentle hills and some easy stiles. Some areas could be slippery, especially around the chalky Cradle Footpath.
Great Kimble near Chequers is an interesting area full of history and we will be passing though the remaining earthworks of an ancient abandoned village dating back to the iron age.
We will stop after half an hour at All Saints Church Little Kimble for packed lunch and to admire the snowdrops and a few primroses in the churchyard and several medieval wall paintings of saints and illustrated medieval floor tiles. This is a scenic part of the Chilterns and we expect to see wildlife as we pass through fields close to brooks and ponds. We walk around Beacon Hill and pass through one of the largest rare boxtree woods in England. Depending on the weather, we could see a great view from the top of Chequers Knapp.
Well behaved dogs are allowed under close control.
