Overview

Circular walk 6 miles.

We pass through St Matthew's churchyard and cross the Murk Esk to take the wooded footpath S to Green End. Moorland footpaths and tracks take us from Braithwaite Cottages SE to Hawthorn Hill, and then NE on to the Whinstone Ridge disused quarries.We walk round Arundel Hill and N past Greenlands Farm to cross Lythe Beck. We then take the path NW past Moor Lane Farm and on to Fair Head Lane, which takes us steeply down into Grosmont.

The National Park car park at Grosmont costs £5.50 for more than 2 hours. There is free parking on the outskirts of the village, and the Moors Railway car park can be used if there are no train services. There are free public toilets near the NP car park. Meet in lower level car park.
