A loop round the village of Gt Oakley. We'll head east from the centre of the village, with views over the Walton backwaters (the scene of classic children's book, "Secret Water"), before turning inland to pass Little Oakley Church (now a home). After a quick coffee break, we'll follow the Ramsey Brook to our lunch stop at Gt Oakley Church. The afternoon loop goes via Beaumont Hall and Church back to the village.
Optional drink after at the Maybush at Gt Oakley (apparently a CAMRA award winning pub).
Start point at Gt Oakley War Memorial. Meet from 9.45 for 10am start.
Limited parking may be available around the memorial or in the little square down the road: otherwise, road parking.
Mostly flat (especially second half), on field paths and quiet lanes, with two very small stretches on busier roads. The second half of the walk features huge skies, but is quite exposed - bring a woolly hat!
Please bring a packed lunch, enough to drink, and something waterproof to sit on.
No need to book.
