This is a walk on good paths, and very little street walking. From Hackney, the route goes via London Fields and the Regents Canal to Victoria Park (stop at the café for coffee / toilets). The route then follows the Hertford Canal to a point opposite the Olympic Park, then the River Lea Navigation to Hackney Marshes, and then goes across Walthamstow Marshes, a site of special scientific interest. Finally, the walk goes through the southern part of the Wetlands to end at the Engine House / Visitors’ Centre for a late lunch (café, picnic or pub). After lunch it is possible to explore the Wetlands or walk into Walthamstow (William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow Village, Vestry House Museum).
