Sunday 26th Jan - 10:30 Start Hardcastle Crags 11 miles.
Outstanding views, scenic, historic and architectural from the start. The walk starts from Heptonstall visiting it's two churches, one derelict but intact apart from the roof and the adjacent functional one and it's graveyards where Sylvia Plath is buried. The graveyards have also been used as film sets for Happy Valley and, more recently the Gallows Pole. The coiner David Hartley (Gallows Pole) is buried in the old graveyard.
From Heptonstall the walk follows Godden Water through Eaves Wood before crossing moorland to then follow Hebden Water through the Hardcastle Crags area. Visiting the Crags and Mill before returning to Heptonstall. A mixture of valley, woods and moorland on mainly good paths with some steep ascents.
