This is a varied walk involving meadows, streams, quiet country lanes and a stretch of the Grand Union Canal. We’ll start at Hatton Locks and wind our way through the countryside to the north of the canal to reach the outskirts of Warwick. We’ll picnic at Warwick Cemetery and then follow the impressive flight of locks (aka the “Stairway to Heaven”) up to Hatton.
Although much of the route is on firm surfaces there are also some muddy and watery sections. There are a couple of busy road crossings and a couple of low canal bridges - taller walkers watch your heads ! There are no stiles.
Hatton Locks Cafe and Hatton Arms pub are both close by should anyone want refreshments after the walk.
