A small and very attractive village, between Coniston Water and Windermere, that the group has not visited before. However, with its exstended coach park, and access from Ambleside, walks today could take you to the Tarns, Wray Castle, or up onto the fells.
Three walks will be available, with full details circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Janet Loines - 10.5 miles walk with a total ascnt of 1874ft. A circular walk taking in the Monument on Latterbarrow, forest tracks over Claife Heights leading down to Far Sawrey, and returning via Moss Eccless Tarn and Wise Een Tarn.
B Walk Leader - Dave Eccles - Around 8.5 to 9.5 miles with a total ascent of 1014ft. Taking in Hawkshead Moor and Forest, Grizedale Forest, Carron Crag View Point, Then back via Grizedale Moor and Coniston Moor into Hawkshead.
C Walk Leader - Derek Cook - Just around 6 miles, with 600 ft of gradual ascent as we make our way along the recently refurbished path from Ambleside to Hawkshead via Bleham Tarn. With lunch, if the weather is fine, at Wray Castle. Adding only half a mile on the walk.
