Please note change of start point due to train cancellations

Meeting time & place: 10.30 at East Didsbury Metrolink station

Start time & place: East Didsbury Metrolink once the first tram after 10.30 has arrived.

Estimated finish time: no later than 15.30

Difficulty: moderate

Distance – about 8 miles

Type:  linear (ie starts and end at different stations)

Note: walkers are advised to check TfGM website to confirm that trams to East Didsbury are running normally.

Train ticket - Single tram ticket to East Didsbury, single train ticket from Woodsmoor. However, in view of further possible route changes to accommodate weather conditions it would be wiser not to buy the ticket back until you know where you are catching transport. Both stops lie within the GM travel area and so you can use a concessionary travel card or day ticket.

Car Use / Parking - not recommended as the stations are on separate lines

Walk Route - Parrs Wood (old rail & riverside paths), Cheadle Mill (after crossing river by short but busy stretch of Kingsway), Bruntwood Park (reached after further short road stretches), Gillbent, Bramhall Park Golf Course, Bramhall Park, path from Bridge Lane to Woodsmoor.

The walk should finish in time to catch the 15.35 from Woodsmoor to Piccadilly. It may be necessary to modify the route on the day if further flooded patches are encountered. Local buses are easily available for return should there be a problem in reaching Woodsmoor station.
