A walk from the small Dorset seaside village of Seatown which includes a visit to Golden Cap (the highest point on the coast path in Dorset), a section of the Monarch’s Way, the mysterious sunken lane known as Hell Lane and tree-topped Colmer's Hill. We will spend approximately 20% of the walk on the coast and 80% inland.
The walk will be around 10-11 miles in length and mainly moderate, but note that there are some steep climbs. Also, if there has been a lot of rain in the days leading up to the walk then the western half of Hell Lane may live up to its name and be strenuous. The eastern half of Hell Lane is a magical place - a good example of a Dorset sunken lane, or holloway. The rock here is so soft that people have made many carvings over the years.
There is an optional visit to the Anchor Inn in Seatown at the end of the walk. I believe the current cost of the car park is £8 for the day, but you get a £2 refund off food or drink in the nearby Anchor Inn.
