Have you ever thought about walking with a Ramblers group but you’re not sure? If so this walk may be an ideal introduction. It’s a slow paced gentle walk of roughly 90 minutes through beautiful countryside, with the chance of a cup of tea and cake at the end. Turning up for your first walk is not always easy, so this walk is geared to make that easier.
After leaving Digswell Village Hall heading south out of the village, we will walk gently uphill on a cross field path to reach Pennyfathers Lane, passing some picturesque houses before walking along Violet’s Lane. From Violet's Lane we will walk gently downhill and uphill to Little Hillfoot Wood. Touching the edge of Burnham Green we then turn south to enjoy views towards Welwyn Garden City. With luck here we will see Highland cattle as we progress downhill. Looking across to Cooks and Dawley Woods will provide views of some great trees.
At the bottom of the hill we will briefly re-join the Welwyn Garden City Centenary Walk and then return to our start point at Digswell Village Hall for the end of day refreshments.
Please note there are about five kissing gates and no stiles on this route, but three or four short sections that are a little more steep and one or two paths across fields which may be muddy after rain.
Dogs are welcome on a lead.
Appropriate for children over 10 years old.
Walk Leader: Tim V
