Overview

A short, leisurely walk heading north towards Benington on woodland paths and farmland.

We will begin by following part of the Hertfordshire Chain Walk (a trail stretching across the eastern part of the county) over the River Beane and across the A602 at Blackditch Wood. The Chain Walk takes us through glorious countryside on paths towards Burn’s Green.

We then turn left and traverse south of Benington, where we will pick up our return route along Cotton Lane, passing Benington airstrip and Lamsden Common.

On returning to Watton-at-Stone, those who wish to walk some more can join one of the afternoon walks heading southeast of the village after lunch.

This walk is family-friendly (bearing in mind the distance) and dogs are welcome on a lead.
