Please note: everyone is welcome to the walk, but places for the meal afterwards are now fully booked
The popular Hunmanby Pie Walk returns! 🥧
This moderate circular walk links Hunmanby and Filey and then loops back towards the starting point, offering amazing views of the Wolds and the East Yorkshire coastline. After the walk, there is the option of going for a hearty meal at the Piebald Inn to taste their world famous pies (and this is definitely not the reason this walk is a GYBO classic, not at all!).
We will set out from the Piebald Inn car park and head towards Filey. The first portion of the route requires us to walk along quiet roads until we reach Filey Golf Course. From there, we will follow the coastline into Filey where we can have a quick snack stop. We then head out of Filey and back inland through farmland and on quiet country paths, following first the Yorkshire Wolds Way and then the Centenary Way back into Hunmanby.
🥾 The walk is classed as moderate due to the distance but is on good paths and does not involve much ascent, only a couple of gentle slopes. The route can however be muddy and slippery, so good walking boots are recommended.
🥧 The meal at the Piebald Inn is limited to 20 spaces. Please email Giulia at giulia.gallio@gmail.com to reserve your space and pre-order your meal – you will need to pay a £10 deposit, which will be taken off your bill. Bookings will close on Sunday 17th November (or earlier if all 20 places have gone!)
You can check out the pie menu at https://thepiebaldinn.co.uk/restaurant-menu/pie-menu/
(If you go to the Facebook event then you'll be able to click on those links)
Priority will be given to members who are joining us for the walk, rather than just the meal.
🅿️ We have arranged parking at the Piebald Inn – please park on the far side away from the pub. Car sharing is encouraged to limit the number of spaces the group will be taking up in the restaurant’s car park. If you would like to car share, create a post on the Facebook event to let others know where you are travelling from.
🚂 You can get a train to Hunmanby from York, Scarborough and Hull. The station is a 10 minute walk from the start of the walk.
🥪 There will be a couple of snack stops on the walk, so please bring some snacks with you, but no lunch stop. We want to be hungry enough to enjoy our pie at the end!
🐶 Dogs are welcome on the walk, but will not be able to join us for the meal as there isn’t enough space for our group in the dog-friendly part of the restaurant.
