Overview

Meet in Portland Road car park (height restriction), usually free at this time of year - by The Green, Hythe, behind the former Duke’s Head pub. Alternatively, park free nearby along A259 Dymchurch Road/Military Road on either side of the Military Canal.

From the car park we will pass through Red Lion Square before ascending the slope behind Hythe to cross the Brockhill Stream near Brockhill Country Park and then continue via a Bridleway to join the Saxon Shore Way at Pedlinge, which we will follow to the Shepway Cross Monument. The route continues down Lympne Hill to West Hythe and returns beside the Royal Military Canal to Hythe. There are no stiles.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. There may be some livestock en route and there is some road walking.

We will have a short refreshment stop at West Hythe before returning to Hythe where further cafes and pubs are available.
