From the car park the walk will take in Dove Dale (possibly via the famous stepping stones) , Hall Dale, Stanshope, Castern, Ilam Hall and Coldwall Bridge before returning to the start point.
This s a fairly easy walk suitable for most people.
Parking is at Dovedale Car Park. Charges are £7 in cash (coins). There may be a NT van where you can pay by card but please don't rely on it being there. The car park is very popular so arrive early if you can, especially if it's a sunny day. It opens at 9am.
Please be ready to leave at the indicated start time. Please lift share if possible to spread the cost and minimise parking requirements. What to bring:
- Enough food and water for a day's walking (including packed lunch)
- Sturdy waterproof walking boots are best for the terrain - trainers are not advisable.
- Layers and waterproofs - the weather can be very changeable in the Peak District so come prepared.
- Sun cream if the weather is sunny
- Lightweight waking trousers are best. No jeans as they are very uncomfortable when wet and take a long time to dry.
