Semi urban walk in and around Kendal visiting Scout and Cunswick Scars, Kendal Castle and Castle Howe with river side paths through Kendal. Roman fort is near but not accessible by footpath. 10 miles with some moderate climbs. Highest point 229m

DO NOT TRY TO GET TO THE CAR PARK FROM KENDAL AS THE ROAD BRIDGE OVER THE A591 IS CLOSED. PLEASE MAKE A COPY OF THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO SAVE GETTING LOST!!
Leave the M6 at Junction 36, Heading Northwest. Follow the A590 for 3.4 miles where it becomes the A590 (This is at the roundabout for Barrow). Continue along the A591 for 1.3 miles. Take the LEFT HAND TURN into Whetstone Lane towards Helsington.
At the end of Whetstone Lane, turn LEFT on to Brigsteer Brow for 1.7 miles where you take a RIGHT HAND TURN onto Garth Row Lane (this is a narrow road) Follow Garth Row Lane for 2.8 miles, taking a RIGHT HAND TURN on to Underbarrow Road. Follow Underbarrow road for 0.6 miles and the car park is on the right.
