Starting at the Camera Obscura we will descend into the town passing JM Barrie's grave and his birthplace. We will then leave the town via Kirrie Den and head up to Loch of Kinnordy. Although the route avoids the loch we will take a short detour to view it. We will then walk through woodland and minor roads along Kirriemuir's northern perimeter, getting spectacular views into the Angus Glens, before we return to the Camera Obscura. Hopefully the Camera Obscura will be open for walkers to visit after the walk, where there is also a small cafe.
There is minimal ascent apart from steps leading out of Kirrie Den. About 50% of the walk is on tar including the path to Loch of Kinnordy. Most of the off-tar paths are in good condition with a couple of boggy bits and a bit of uneven ground in one or two places.
Local grade: C RADO
The Camera Obscura is run by a local voluntary group and entrance is by donation.
The walk will be limited to 20 people. Please book with walk leader at least 2 days before walk.
