Overview

From the Car Park we head east up onto the downland along the Mid Wilts Way before turning south to  cross the Kennet & Avon canal into Wilcot. From here we head west to eventually join the canal towpath and follow the White Horse Trail to Honeystreet. Here we cut cross country to Stanton St Bernard with (hopefully) good views up to the Alton Barnes white horse. We continue west to All Cannings before turning north back up onto the downland, briefly joining the Wansdyke, before descending back to the start.

The going underfoot is generally good with some muddy tracks through farmland. There are numerous gates and six stiles. There is 310m/1100ft of ascent, mostly quite gradual, with one short steeper descent. This route includes two lengthy stretches of downland, providing fantastic views but also very exposed to weather conditions, so please dress accordingly.
