This walk takes us through Lainshaw Woods in Stewarton, which is well-maintained by the local Stewarton Woodlands Action Trust (SWAT). We start with a stroll along the banks of the Annick Water before heading back up through the woods towards the town. After leaving the woods, there is some walking through the town and down into Cunningham Watt Park where we will stop for lunch beside the Clerkland Burn. After leaving this park we cross over the Annick Water to walk back to the start along the other side of the river.
This is an easy walk but does involve some gentle ascents, along with a couple of short ascents/descents on steps (one of which has a broken handrail). We have a short walk along a quiet road, where care is needed.
The section back along Annick Water is likely to be a bit wet and muddy, so waterproof footwear will be needed.
We will initially meet at Morrisons Car Park in Stevenston for a 9:30am departure. From there, the easiest route is through Kilwinning, joining the B778 up to the Blair Tavern. Turn right onto the A736, and take a right turn after 200 yards to rejoin the B778 to Stewarton.
On entering Stewarton, follow the road down the hill, the entrance to the Station Cart Park is on the left, immediately before the railway bridge.
We will aim to start the walk at 10am.
