We leave Lanark Loch and follow the A73 for a short distance via a roadside Sensory Garden. We then cross over to a very quiet country lane to Bonnington Mains Farm where Free Range Eggs may be purchased. There's a lovely avenue of Beech trees and extensive views. We gradually descend to Bonnington Hydro Power Station on the Clyde, (waterfalls nearby can be viewed) then follow a wooden walkway (with a non-slip surface) along the river bank. There are boards with descriptions of Flora and Fauna. Shortly we arrive at New Lanark Mill (World Heritage Site) where we'll have a snack/drink in the cafe. There'll be time to visit the Reception area to learn a little about the Mill, and also visit the very nice Mill Shop.
We climb (short steep section) from the valley up a good track, eventually levelling out along another avenue of Beeches and rejoin the A73 near Lanark Loch.
This walk is mainly on good paths with a couple of short steepish sections.
