A circular 12.5 mile route exploring the heights above Streatley and the delights of Ashampstead and Aldworth. A hilly / undulating downland walk following farm tracks, woodland / grassland and small sections of metalled road. We head south from Lardon Chase towards Ashampstead before turning west and then North to Aldworth. There will be a mid morning break in the region of Ashampstead and a lunch break near Aldworth. It is worth noting that the route crosses the B4009 at Parsonage Green / Aldworth and extreme caution should be exercised. Always a delight is the Goring golf club near the car park at the end, ring that bell!
Conditions underfoot shouldn't be too bad with dry weather forecast well into March. However, there will be some muddy sections and rain is always a possibility, so sturdy footwear and reliable waterproofs are recommended. There will be little shelter along the route so please prepare accordingly. There is a short steep ascent which could prove slippery if wet and only one stile.
Please bring sufficient food and drink for the day.
Numbers are restricted to 20 due to the small size of the car park and the fact it is used frequently by dog walkers. Car sharing and careful parking would be appreciated.
