This walk is for up to 30 people, including the leader.
A leisurely walk of around 7.5 miles, hosted by Stag Walkers as part of Letchworth Festival. Beginning near the town centre, we will head through the suburbs to the pretty village of Willian, through farmland to Wymondley Wood and then back to town.
The route is relatively flat with a few gentle slopes, partly on pavement and partly on rural footpaths.
We will start by the Mrs. Howard Hall in Howard Park and walk through the Ball Memorial Gardens then along the streets and paths to Willian. We will pass through fields where they may be cattle grazing, through the village churchyard and alongside arable farmland as we head towards Wymondley Wood.
In the woods we might see wildlife including butterflies and will stop at the picnic area to have our packed lunches.
After lunch, we will return to Willian, passing the sculpture of a noted Letchworth resident, the late Telford Morton. We then have the opportunity of a drink and chance to use the facilities at one of the village pubs in Willian (a popular destination for earlier Letchworth residents as one of the only options to buy alcoholic drinks when the Garden City was built as a "dry" town).
We will then walk back into Letchworth, passing the UK's first roundabout and the fountains of Broadway Gardens, then after the walk there will be an optional visit to a local drinking establishment.
Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Please:
DO NOT book onto a walk unless you are pretty sure you will be able to make it.
UPDATE YOUR RSVP. We understand ‘life happens’ so if you need to change your RSVP please do this at least 24 hours before the walk and before booking closes to enable someone else to take your place.
DON’T NO-SHOW on the day unless it is absolutely unavoidable (we do understand ‘life happens’) because it prevents others from enjoying a walk if it is fully booked.
*TAKE NOTE that if you no-show and/or cancel after the booking closing deadline three times, without extenuating circumstances, we will decline further bookings from you for a period of six weeks.*
Bring a packed lunch/snacks and drinks, appropriate clothing for the conditions and optionally a basic first aid kit.
