A linear walk seems to be much more satisfying than a circular one. This walk has the added excitement of timing. We need to be in Huntley to catch the return bus on time!
This is a pleasant walk over rolling hills with mixed woodland and streams, forest paths and open farmland with wildflower meadows. May Hill never fails to please with its magnificent views of the Severn estuary and the Malverns, along with the Welsh Hills and many surrounding counties.
We have just 4.5 hours to complete the walk and catch the return bus. Hopefully it won't end in a mad dash along the A40 chasing the No.33!
Don't forget to bring a packed lunch and your bus pass, if you're young enough to have one!
From the Cantilupe Road bus stop in Ross-on-Wye, we take the 10:10am No.252 Daffodil Line bus to Gorsley arriving at 10:29am.
We then walk the 7.5 miles to Huntley to meet the 3:07pm No.33 bus, which will take us back to Ross-on-Wye, arriving at 3:42pm.
If you haven't got a bus pass, don't forget to bring some money with you (currently it's only £2 per journey...a bargain!).
