Overview

This stage takes us through the wooded commons of the sandstone country on the Kent border with Surrey.  We go past Ide Hill, Toy's Hill, Crockham Hill and Chartwell.  Chartwell  is a large country house and was the home of Winston Churchill.  After Chartwell we follow a steep path to Crockham Hill Common and then on through some splendid forests.

Bring a packed lunch and a drink.  Be prepared for mud.  As we will be taking taxis from Riverhill station to the start point please let the leader know you will be coming.
