A nice local walk for us this Sunday. Why not tag along?
We're exploring the pleasant countryside between Rugeley and Lichfield on this one. Fairly flat on field footpaths, tracks, and a bit of canal towpath. Approximately 15 stiles, and a little undergrowth in places 😁 'cos that's the way it's been just lately. We'll probably end up in the Red Lion afterwards. How unusual!
If you're coming along it would be cool if you could let us know. Ta.
Local directions:
From your home location to either Rugeley or Lichfield.
From Rugeley take the A460 and then the A51 south for Lichfield via Brereton and Longdon where a short section of dual carriageway begins. At the end of the dual carriageway proceed for a further 0.25 mile to turn right (with care) then immediately left into the parking area, or take the earlier right turn signed for Longdon Green and the Red Lion and continue through the village until you arrive at the parking area.
From Lichfield direction take the A51 north for Rugeley, through the traffic lights opposite The Hedgehog pub, then bear straight left at the island soon after, still A51. Continue for 1.6 miles until the first turning on your left signed for Longdon Green and the Red Lion pub. Take this and then immediate left into the parking area.
