So, we'll try again! This walk was cancelled due to storms at the end of last year.
Mells, just a few miles west of Frome is widely held to be among the most beautiful villages in Somerset. We will walk onto Barrow Hill with lovely views. Walking mostly across fields and through woods, following the riverside path alongside the Mells Stream, it could be muddy so walking boots and poles advised.
After pre-walking this on 2.2.25 we discovered there were numerous fallen trees along the riverside path and a notice to say the path was going to be closed for 3 weeks from 3.2.25 in order that they can be cleared. We will therefore detour along the road for a little bit further and join the path a bit further along, missing out the fallen trees but still being able to see the snowdrops in the woods.
We can stop for a drink after the walk at the Talbot Inn which we pass on our way through the village on our way back to the cars.
Bring drinks and snacks as we will stop for a short break.
Please remember to bring your ICE (In Case of Emergency) cards in your pocket.
