West Mendip Walkers moderate 9 mile circular walk in the Mendip Hills returning via Ebbor Gorge and Wookey Hole. The walk begins on Ash Lane, Wells and heads north, then north- east through Model farm, following and crossing a stream in woodland rising steeply to the Old Bristol Rd. We cross at Ivy Cottage and continue to climb east up to Pen Hill mast from where we remain on the western side of A39 crossing five flat fields returning to Old Bristol Rd and the start of Dursdon Drove. We take the path heading south from Dursdon Drove then west along the southern edge of The Mendips to enjoy beautiful views. We descend into Ebbor Gorge then Wookey Hole, returning to Wells via Lime Kiln Lane.
The walk is dog friendly.
Far reaching views over The Levels as far as Glastonbury Tor on a fine day.
Start point is from the path leading down to the Blue School on Ash Lane. Park carefully on roadside.
