Join Jim on this walk from the Black Horse in Whitwick on a journey past Whitwick Quarry to Mount St Bernards Abbey where a coffee break will be taken. From there the walk heads towards the Windmill on Ticker Lane an then onto Poachers Corner. Lunch will be taken at Blackbrook Reservoir before returning to Whitwick and the Black Horse for refreshments.

From the Black Horse, an old style country pub the walk goes over open fields and countryside before arriving at Mount St Bernards Abbey founded in 1835. It is a Roman Catholic monastery belonging to the Trappist Order. There are currently over 30 monks at the monastery who farm the land and have there own brewery producing Tynt Meadow, the first Trappist Ale. Can be purchased on site. Heading then to the Windmill on Ticker Lane and onto Poachers Corner before reaching Blackbrook Reservoir, covering 334 Hectares. The first earthworks Dam failed on the 20th February 1799 and the reservoir emptied in 11 minutes flooding farmland ,drowning sheep and much of Shepshed and Loughborough were affected.
