Circular walk starting from The Stables Mortonhall car park.
Through the golf courses to reach Howe Dean Path leading down to the valley of the Braid Burn. Then rising up into the Millennium Wood to reach the Royal Observatory. From there we head down towards Blackford Pond, along Charterhall Road climbing steps (approx. 75) up to Blackford Hill Grove to reach the Harrison Arch. Then past the University campus onto Mayfield Road, then onto the A701 for a short distance before turning off towards Liberton Tower and back to Mortonhall.
Option for coffee after the walk.
Grassy paths and tracks and some pavement walking. Some steep ascent and descent and several steps. Some roads to cross and care needed near the golf courses.
Some areas may be muddy/slippery, walking poles and gaitors may be helpful.
