Starting from the Mow Cop castle folly, on lanes, canal towpath and field paths - muddy in places, with one particularly marshy area and with numerous kissing gates and stiles. Taking in a visit to Little Moreton Hall, a timbered Elizabethan house virtually unaltered by time and now a National Trust property. One long steady climb returns us through Roe Park to Mow Cop.
A picnic brunch in the grounds of Little Moreton Hall courtesy of the National Trust. Only a brief drinks stop in the afternoon. Boots and gaiters will definitely be required!
