Overview

Starting in Great Bircham we will proceed to Bircham Tofts then head north to Fring for Mince Pies and Mulled Wine (bring your own lunch), then back along Peddars Way to Gt. Bircham via Bircham Windmill.

Bircham Tofts St Andrew was in regular use until World War Two but close proximity to Bircham airfield placed it off limits. Never restored to use the church was abandoned in the late 1940s and unroofed in 1952.  Today the ruins of St Andrew stand encased in ivy with nature slowly beginning to reclaim the building and surrounding graveyard.
