‘A delightful day out in rural Gloucestershire!
This none-too-demanding walk includes the splendid views from atop May Hill, the many delights of the small, market town of Newent, plus orchards, forestry & lakes aplenty.
From the hamlet of Glasshouse we climb steadily thru’ woodland to the much-loved copse of pines denoting May Hill's 296m. summit - Anticipate great views in all directions! It’s then downhill to the village of Aston Ingham, (in Herefordshire), & a break at the local church, before heading enjoyably across country to picturesque Newent. Pubs & cafes aplenty here, plus a lovely lake, lots of listed buildings, a gold post-box, equine statue & a splendid market-house!
The afternoon provides a relatively short & gentle stretch, following streams & woodlands back to our startpoint, with the walk coming in at about a total of 12 very pleasurable miles in all.
Hope to see you at the outset….! ‘
