We are the Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Pre-registration preferred**
Moderately paced 12 mile walk over mainly downland paths and farm tracks; some road walking from Newhaven station, then climbs up to the South Downs Way, and from Glynde over the Downs to Lewes.
About 5 hours walking.
Route: Up from the station, then East along South Downs Way, then Firle, Glynde and a fine downland walk passing Mount Caborn before descending into Lewes.
Lunch Stop: Picnic. Drinks & loo stop only at the pub (Ram Inn at Firle).
Meet at Newhaven Town Station at 11.11 (or 11.40* if connection missed)
Travel: Victoria 09.54/Clapham Junction 10.01/East Croydon 10.10 - Ore train - changing at Lewes (arr 10.56 plat 1) to 11.00 Seaford train (Plat 3) arr Newhaven Town 11.11 (note: very short changeover time at Lewes - up and over the bridge - next Newhaven train 11.30*).
Ticket/Fare: Off-peak Day Return to Newhaven £34.00/Railcard £22.40/SRC+FP £17.65.
Finish: Lewes Station. Plenty of refreshment options in Lewes after the walk.Note: the estimated finishing time given is a guesstimate only and will be dependent on weather, speed at which the group walks & the number of breaks taken!
