First in a series of linear walks - travelling from the northernmost point in Surrey (at the top of Wraysbury reservoir) to the southernmost point (on the slopes of Blackdown).
On this first leg we'll be starting from Wraysbury Station at 10:30. If you park at Weybridge and take the 09:33 changing at Staines, you'll arrive at 10:18. Otherwise, you'll need to take the train back from Weybridge at the end.
From there we'll head north, looping around Wraysbury reservoir, and briefly touching the benighted land of Berkshire before crossing over the M25 to Stanwell Moor. We'll head south through Staines Moor along the River Colne, and then visit two historical sites in Staines itself (yes, Staines has history). First, we'll be stopping past the Papa India air disaster memorial - the worst aviation accident in British history. Then, we'll loop through past Church Llamas lake, where we'll get to the Coal Tax obelisk.
Cutting through Llamas recreation ground, we'll pick up the Thames Path and head through Staines itself. We'll likely have lunch in the public area by the river, before following the Thames downstream through Laleham to Chertsey Bridge. Crossing over, we'll pass through the Meads and then up the hill to Weybridge station and the Hand and Spear for a drink for those inclined.
Other notes:
- We've provided an automated estimate of the end time and this will be affected by many factors - please only use as a guide. The description above may also have specific notes on ending details.
- If not mentioned in the walk description, the given ending point will be based on the nearest train station or other obvious central landmark, and might not be exactly where the walk actually ends.
