Overview

A brisk circular walk through attractive, open Essex countryside within and out of ear shot of the M25. The morning is about 3 hours and afternoon about 2 hours. We have a morning drinks’ break in the pleasant Churchyard at Stansted Rivers. We then walk the 3 Forests Way to Chipping Ongar where we have a lunch break opposite the library. There is a seating area, pub, public toilets and Sainsburys.

During the walk we cross 3 fields with crops that do not have a marked/rolled path as this is Essex, not Hertfordshire. They are not difficult but a bit of a plod. They should be golden at the end of July. In the afternoon we criss-cross under and above the railway line back to the station. Bring plenty of water as there is no tap apart from at Chipping Ongar.
