Overview

Starting from Orwell we walk past the Meridian Marker and then out to Waddon before heading North to Wimpole Avenue.  We leave the avenue and head to Arrington before entering Wimpole Estate (free entry) where we will have our picnic lunch (toilets and some seating).  There is also a Cafe however this will be busy at Christmas time and wait times maybe long.
After lunch we go through the estate taking a look at some of the features and ruins before returning to Orwell via the Clunch Pit to the car park.

Orwell Clunch Pit Free Car Park, High Street, Orwell, Royston. From the A603 take the turning into Orwell. Pass the church on your left and continue straight along High Street. The car park is on the left, signed from the road but hidden up a lane just before no 27, opposite no 32. If you pass the village hall on your right you have gone too far and need to turn back. If the car park is full when you arrive you can park on the roadside. We encourage car sharing via our WhatsApp group. Please contact the leader if you require further details.
