Overview

The first in a series of six walks. Each begins at a station that is generally served only by one of London Overground's six recently-renamed lines and heads for the edge of the city and the countryside beyond. This time, most of the route follows the Roding Valley, a narrow green strip through the conurbation, but by the end the surroundings are more rural. Please bring packed lunch, pub stop at end of walk.

Terrain: Riverbank, fields, urban.

Travel: Use TfL Journey Planner to get to the start on time. Eastbound train required arrives 10:38 (originates Gospel Oak 10:09). Westbound train required arrives 10:42 (originates Barking Riverside 10:33). Meet outside main exits on Romford Road bridge.

Use Oyster/contactless.
