Local Pentlands Walk including Black Springs and Harlaw reservoir
Walking to Kirkgate and cut through to Lymphoy. The path leads towards Malleny gardens, turn left and take the path through trees.
A small path leads off to the left and can be muddy. This takes us to the edge of a field. We go up there to reach a path to the farm on Harlaw road. We cross Harlaw road and proceed to the Harlaw Ranger’s centre, where there are toilets and places to sit (outside) to have a drink. From here we walk along the east edge of Harlaw reservoir and take turning to Black springs.
This is a pleasant walk through trees. Very slight rise and then downward slope to the springs. On reaching the Black springs turn right and walk along the water’s edge towards where it joins Harlaw reservoir. Walk along the water’s edge through trees. Passing Youth Vision on right before reaching Harlaw dam. At the end turn right over the bridge and continue along the edge of Harlaw till reach a bridge just before the Ranger’s centre. Good stop for lunch.
After which we take the path through the woods to Harlaw road. We walk down here till reach Harlaw gait, and then walk through the woods arriving at the Water of Leith walkway and so back to Currie Library.
Please WhatsApp or text the leader if you would like to book a place on this walk with your name and mobile telephone number, and advise if you have a medical condition relevant to your walking.
