Overview

From the Castle at Pulverbach to Cothercott and Wilderly Hills, returning along the Shropshire Way.

A 6.2 mile circular walk from Pulverbach Castle. Starting from the castle  with its remarkable 12th century Motte, Bailey and Earthworks,  the route is almost entirely off-road and is over tracks, paths and open country. Sometimes, of course, muddy. Starting up the valley to the historic Barytes Mine at Cothercott we will ascend Cothercott hill, initally on a good track but finally across open country, before meeting up with the Shropshire way a little along the ridge on Wilderley Hill. Return is via the Shropshire way and then on a path providing an impressive approach back to the Castle. Total ascent is less than 1000 feet.
