This walk is for up to 25 people, including the leader.
All aboard! The second of our series of walks following former railway lines in our area, this time taking on the Cole Green Way between Welwyn Garden City and Hertford, after exploring Panshanger country park.
From Hertford North station we'll head to Panshanger Park to enjoy its landscaped scenery, lakes and ancient trees - including the historic Great Oak - and hopefully be treated to a magnificent dispay of daffodils. We then make our way to the edge of WGC via woodland to find the start of the Cole Green Way, the former route of the Welwyn to Hertford branch line of the Great Northern Railway.
We'll follow this now rural leisure path its entire length back to Hertford, stopping for our packed lunches at the former Cole Green station where the old platforms are still visible. Handily there is also a pub just off the trail here so we'll take on board some refreshments! Once in Hertford we'll wind through the town via its castle and other historic buildings, heading back to Hertford North alongside the River Beane.
Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Please:
DO NOT book onto a walk unless you are pretty sure you will be able to make it.
UPDATE YOUR RSVP. We understand ‘life happens’ so if you need to change your RSVP please do this at least 24 hours before the walk and before booking closes to enable someone else to take your place.
DON’T NO-SHOW on the day unless it is absolutely unavoidable (we do understand ‘life happens’) because it prevents others from enjoying a walk if it is fully booked.
*TAKE NOTE that if you no-show and/or cancel after the booking closing deadline three times, without extenuating circumstances, we will decline further bookings from you for a period of six weeks.*
Bring a packed lunch/snacks and drinks, appropriate clothing for the conditions and optionally a basic first aid kit.
