This is a linear walk from Petersfield railway station to the station at Rowland's Castle. The route takes in parts of the Hangers Way and the Shipwright's Way through pasture, downs and woodland. Coffee break at Buriton 10:15 and picnic lunch at Chalton churchyard no later than 12 noon. Fairly level walk along good footpaths/farm tracks. Can be muddy after heavy rain. Couple of short, steepish climbs for which walking poles are recommended.
Take the train from Chichester (or one of the nearby stations) to Havant and change there for Petersfield so as to arrive about 9:15. Return cost is less than a tenner if one has a Railcard. Petersfield station has toilets in the waiting room on Platform 2. Rowlands Castle does not have public toilets.
