Ratho, Woods and Two Quarries Walk

Ratho walk around woods and two quarries.
Meet at Currie Library at 9.30 for 9.45  departure to the Bridge Inn, Ratho, where the walk will start at 10.00 am.

We leave the car park to walk to Tormain woods through the Hallcroft estate. After a circular walk through the woods, we’ll make our way to Craigpark quarry, now the Lost Shore resort, and for those who are interested we can understand some of the technical achievements of its construction.
We’ll then walk to the Climbing centre in another quarry , where some of the geology is quite interesting, and make our way back to Ratho along a track past Ratho Hall. Most of the walk is off road or on pavements except for the woods which may be muddy.
5.5 miles, ascent minimal

Directions to the Bridge Inn. Turn right on leaving Currie library and right again down Curriehill Road. Turn left onto A71 and then right onto Dalmahoy Road to reach Ratho village Turn right onto Main St and then left onto Baird Road. The Bridge Inn car park is on the left and park at the far end of the car park.
