Toilets at start of walk. Walk to The Well House Inn for lunch or picnic and then onto Tadworth to get the 420 bus back to Sutton.
At the start of the walk, there is a long downhill to Gatton Bottom and then an uphill stretch. After that there is a short steep uphill shortly after lunch. There are a couple of tricky stiles. There wasn't much mud on the recce except for one place and I am hopeful that this can be avoided by taking an alternative path on the day. Those who use a stick might find it useful. I wasn't hopeful of finding a picnic stop at lunch but there is a well placed log. The deadline for booking for lunch is 1pm on Tuesday, not as shown in the programme.
As for return timings, the most likely is that we will catch the 420 bus from Tadworth at 16.05 arriving at Sutton about 16.30. There will be time to spare before the bus is due so we can stop at the Blue Anchor for refreshments. It is possible that we catch the previous bus at 14.47 from the Mill Road stop on the A217 which will reduce the walk by about a mile.
