We are the Dearne Valley Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
NOTE START TIME
Owing to the tight timetable of events of the day, it is essential that we commence the walk no later than 9.30am. Sadly, latecomers cannot be included.
Initially involving some road walking, we alight onto the Chesterfield Canal towpath, which takes up the entirety of the walk, and goes into the picturesque Retford town centre itself. The walk into Retford will take an hour. There are toilet facilities available prior to entering the market square where the ceremony will take place, at 11am.
Once the ceremony has taken concluded, we will then walk a short distance into Carolgate, where we will have lunch. There are benches provided for those of us who have brought lunches, and cafes for those of us who haven’t. Forty or so minutes later will once again rejoin the canal footpath, back to the start,
The wearing of Poppies will be discretionary. Well behaved dogs are always welcome, but must be kept on leads throughout.
