We leave Rickmansworth Underground Station following the Chess Valley Way for the first mile before crossing the Chess and walking up hill to Croxley Green. We then head north-west to Church End and skirting around Sarratt before reaching the north end of Sarratt Green where we will stop for a picnic lunch near The Boot pub.
From here we will take a path skirting the east side of the village across fields and farm tracks to reach a country lane leading down to Chandlers Ford and onward to Whippendell Wood. We eventually emerge at Cassiobury Park which we cross to arrive at our destination, Watford Underground Station.
After rain some parts of the walk can be muddy so waterproof boots are essential.
There are 2 or 3 stiles on route.
The only public toilets enroute are at the start at Rickmansworth Station, and very near the end, in Cassiobury Park and Watford Underground Station. A few alfresco opportunities enroute exist in woodland.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead.
