6 mile circular walk around historical Lewes, half urban, half rural.
Lewes is a fascinating town of contrasts with abundant quirkiness.
The route takes us past the Pells outdoor pool to Willeys Bridge where we turn left to follow the path along the River Ouse. After a mile we turn left under the railway bridge, through the woods to Offham Church. Crossing the main road we walk up & up along the Greenwich Meridian path to the top of the racecourse. Hopefully, if it's a clear day, we will have fabulous views across the whole of Lewes & even the sea in the distance. Watch out for galloping racehorses!
Descending towards Lewes prison & the town, past Anne of Cleves house. The walk then takes us through regenerated railway land to the Curly Wurly! To finish, we go to the church of St John Sub Castro & the final surprise!
Finish time approx 1pm.
No stiles.
